§ 2-20. Holidays.

  • (a)

    Holidays for parish office employees are as follows: January 1, New Year's Day; January 18, Martin Luther King Day, and the third Monday in February, Presidents Day, shall be an alternating holiday each year; Mardi Gras; Good Friday; the last Monday in May, National Memorial Day; June 27, Audrey Memorial Day; July 4, Independence Day; the first Monday in September, Labor Day; November 1, All Saints Day; November 11, Veterans Day; the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving Day; the fourth Friday in November, Acadian Day; December 25, Christmas Day.

    (b)

    In every case where one of the above-listed holidays falls on a Saturday, the Friday before shall be taken as a holiday, and in every case where the holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday after shall be taken as a holiday. In addition to the above stated holidays an additional holiday shall be provided in the form of a floating holiday which shall be taken on a date agreed to by a majority of the employees.
