§ 18-16. Created; membership; terms.

  • There is hereby created, in accordance with Act 342 of 1958, an Advisory Council on the Aging People in and for the parish, said council to be composed of nine (9) members appointed by the president of the police jury with the advice and consent of the police jury for a term concurrent with that of the police jury. The members of the council shall be appointed from among the groups and professions within the limits of the parish who contribute to or are interested in the welfare of the aging, and no more than four (4) of the members shall be elected officials or paid employees of this parish. Hereafter, whenever a vacancy shall occur among the members of said council, it shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term in the manner provided for the appointment of other members of the council. As an attestation of his appointment, each member of the council shall receive from the president of the police jury a certificate of appointment, and the names of persons so appointed shall be duly recorded in the minutes of the police jury.
